The Rochester Psychiatric Center consists of a large campus containing both abandoned buildings and buildings that as still in use for the hospital. The images here are primarily taken in the power plant which is no longer in use. Built in the late 1800's, the power plant was initially powered by coal. Sometime in the middle of the 20th century the plant was totally restructured to gas power. The plant retains the infrastructure for both coal and gas. The plant was run almost completely by the inmates/patients of the hospital.

There are 11 other abandoned buildings on the campus of the Rochester Psychiatric Center, including a 15 story building built in the late 50's during the tuberculosis crisis, and closed down less than 20 years later due to lack of funds.
